Agility

Agility is a fast-paced dog sport where a handler guides their dog through an obstacle course as quickly and accurately as possible. The course typically includes jumps, tunnels, weave poles, seesaws, A-frames, and other challenges that test a dog’s speed, coordination, and obedience.

It’s not just about athleticism—agility also builds a strong bond between dog and handler through communication, trust, and teamwork. Dogs of all sizes and breeds can enjoy agility, whether for fun or competition.
It’s a fun way to channel your dog’s energy, improve behavior, and keep them mentally and physically fit.

Agility is very suitable for Australian Cattle Dogs (ACDs) — in fact, they can be excellent in the sport when properly trained and conditioned.

Why Agility Can Be Great for Australian Cattle Dogs
High Energy & Endurance
• ACDs are bred to work hard all day herding cattle — they thrive on physical and mental challenges.
Intelligent & Problem-Solving
• Very smart and independent thinkers, which is ideal for learning complex agility courses.
Athletic & Agile
• Compact, muscular build gives them great speed, balance, and coordination.
• They’re capable of tight turns, fast weaves, and solid jumping.
Strong Focus & Drive
• Loyal and often very handler-focused, especially with a strong bond.
• High food or toy motivation can make them very responsive during training.
FactorTip
StubbornnessTraining must be consistent and clear; they may challenge handlers early on.
High DriveWithout enough stimulation, they can become frustrated or reactive. Agility is great for redirecting this energy.
Joint HealthMonitor for hip/elbow dysplasia or arthritis as they age. Always warm up and cool down properly.
SocializationACDs can be wary of unfamiliar dogs/people — early, positive exposure helps in crowded agility settings.

ABRAMS Harvest OZI Home aka Rocky

Born on September 27, 2022, as a firstborn in our OZI Home Kennel, a spirited Australian Cattle Dog named Rocky (Abrams Harvest) began his journey. The son of two remarkable dogs—Bradley, known for his confidence and drive, and Nia, admired for her intelligence and grace—Rocky inherited the best of both worlds.

From the very beginning, Rocky showed something special. Quick to learn and always alert, he bonded closely with his dedicated owner, who committed countless hours to training, socializing, and guiding him. The two built their foundation not just on commands and drills, but on mutual respect and trust.

By the time Rocky turned one, he was already confidently navigating jumps, tunnels, and weave poles. With a sharp mind and a love for movement, agility became his passion—and his strength.

Today, Rocky proudly represents OZI Home Kennel across the Baltic States, competing in agility competitions in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. Known for his focus, speed, and precise execution, he’s not just turning heads—he’s climbing podiums.

Rocky is more than a competitor; he’s a testament to what’s possible when great breeding meets dedicated training and a deep bond between dog and handler.

We are so thankful to Rocky's owner for the hard work and input he has made, and of course for a great care and love.
